Corvian Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was RJ Moore Jr. out in front who went 9-for-19 on his way to 26 points and five rebounds. The game was Moore Jr.'s fifth in a row with at least 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Malachi McCutcheon, who went 5-for-7 en route to 14 points along with six boards and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Pine Lake Prep hadn't done well against Lincoln Charter recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Pine Lake Prep put the hurt on Lincoln Charter with a sharp 54-32 victory. The Pride have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.
Corvian Community better keep an eye on Joseph Bruce. He was instrumental in Pine Lake Prep's win, putting up 16 points and four steals. Bruce has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Jamie Lawson was another key player, posting ten points and four steals.
Corvian Community is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points over those games. As for Pine Lake Prep, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Corvian Community has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pine Lake Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Corvian Community took their victory against Pine Lake Prep when the teams last played last Tuesday by a conclusive 73-49. The rematch might be a little tougher for Corvian Community since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
