The Topeka Trojans's 17-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They were the victim of a rough 49-28 defeat at the hands of Notre Dame de Sion on Friday.
Leading Notre Dame de Sion to victory were Taelyn Smith and Abby Wendte. Smith dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Wendte scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wendte has scored at least 25% of Notre Dame de Sion's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Blaine, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Topeka now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Notre Dame de Sion, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Topeka will be playing in front of their home fans against Manhattan on Tuesday. Manhattan will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Notre Dame de Sion, they will head out on the road to face off against St. James Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
