When it comes to explaining why Athens lost on Thursday, one person who can't be blamed is Connor Mosher. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. The matchup was Mosher's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Korey Miller, who scored six points.
Waverly pushed their record up to 5-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.33 points. As for Athens, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waverly will take on Susquehanna Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Athens, they will play host again and welcome Troy, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. One thing working in Troy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
