Central Columbia hasn't had much luck against Montoursville recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Bluejays will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:30 p.m.
Lewisburg hit Central Columbia with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejays fell 8-5 to the Green Dragons. That's two games in a row now that the Bluejays have lost by exactly three runs.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montoursville). They never let Milton get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Elijah Eck made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Noah Kirby was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Zack Neill was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Montoursville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive matchups.
Montoursville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for Central Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Central Columbia couldn't quite get it done against Montoursville in their previous matchup back in April as they fell 5-1. Will the Bluejays have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
