The Carmichaels Mighty Mikes will face off against the West Greene Pioneers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carmichaels comes in on 15 and West Greene on three.
Carmichaels is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Serra Catholic get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. Considering the Mighty Mikes have won ten games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

The result came thanks to Bailey Barnyak's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Kaitlyn Waggett was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carys McConnell, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Seven must be West Greene's lucky number: they beat South Side with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Pioneers beat the Rams by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6.
Payton Gilbert spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emmaline Beazell, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Kendra Tharp, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
West Greene's win bumped their record up to 16-3. As for Carmichaels, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Carmichaels has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like West Greene struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Carmichaels was able to grind out a solid win over West Greene when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 6-1. Will the Mighty Mikes repeat their success, or do the Pioneers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
