After having lost a blowout in their previous game against South Anchorage, Colony was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Service Cougars by a score of 10-5. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Kaidence Browning made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Browning was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malana Bell, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Congdon, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Colony always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Service only posted an OBP of .391.
Colony has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Service, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colony will host Palmer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Service, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Chugiak at 5:45 p.m.
