Oak Harbor is 8-2 against Edison since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Rockets will welcome the Chargers at 4:45 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oak Harbor comes in on three and Edison on nine.
While Oak Harbor's win against Maumee wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rockets skirted past the Panthers 9-7.
Morgan Lalonde spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hannah Schimmoeller, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Karder Haas, who went 4-for-5 with one home run and two runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Oak Harbor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.
Edison came out on top against Port Clinton on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Chargers were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Redskins. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won 13 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Stella Brown was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Peyton Taylor was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Edison pushed their record up to 18-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Oak Harbor, their victory bumped their record up to 18-5.
Oak Harbor took their win against Edison when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Rockets repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
