The Steubenville Big Red will be playing at home against the Weir Red Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Steubenville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Monday.
Last Monday, Steubenville strolled past Linsly with points to spare, taking the game 65-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given Steubenville's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 106th in Ohio, while Linsly is ranked 20th in West Virginia).
Steubenville relied on the efforts of Aniyah Warner, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Nylah Mcshan, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Mcshan has scored at least a third of Steubenville's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sabria Jones, who scored two points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Weir ended up a good deal behind Dover on Saturday and lost 49-33. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Weir has scored all season.
Steubenville is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Weir, they now have a losing record at 7-8.
Everything came up roses for Steubenville against Weir in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-40 win. Will Steubenville repeat their success, or does Weir have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
