The NSU University Sharks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Martin County Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. NSU University knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 20 contests -- so hopefully Martin County likes a good challenge.
Even though Chaminade-Madonna scored an imposing 72 points on Tuesday, NSU University still came out on top. NSU University enjoyed a cozy 88-72 victory over Chaminade-Madonna. Given NSU University's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Chaminade-Madonna is ranked 315th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
NSU University's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Anthony Ferrer, who scored 22 points, and Dwight Gaines, who scored 33 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaines has scored all season. Darwin Brooks was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Martin County's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their seventh straight loss. They took a 53-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Treasure Coast.
NSU University's win bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Martin County, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-15 record this season.
