Lake Forest hasn't had much luck against Stevenson recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Scouts will square off against the Patriots at 4:45 p.m. Lake Forest has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lake Forest is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their tenth straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Vernon Hills, falling 16-1.
Meanwhile, Stevenson entered their tilt with Vernon Hills on Friday with 12 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 13. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Patriots have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Aubrey Jepson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, Alyssa Shimanski and Addison Pak did most of the damage at the plate: Shimanski went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Pak went a perfect 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Pak a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maahi Patel, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Stevenson pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Lake Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 2-17.
Lake Forest might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Stevenson in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Scouts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
