The Douglass Mighty Ducks fell victim to the Lewis Falcons''s stalwart defense on Thursday and couldn't make it onto the board. They fell 10-0 to the Falcons. Douglass' loss continues a unfortunate trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Lewis got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Joseph out in front who rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown. Joseph's longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Lewis also got a significant boost from Sharrod Mattox, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
Lewis' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Tavon Brown and his two sacks.
Douglass' defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 1.0 points per game. As for Lewis, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-3.
Douglass will head out on the road to face off against Forest Park at 3:45 p.m. on October 27th. Forest Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Douglass in Maryland (Forest Park is ranked 105th, while Douglass is ranked 216th). As for Lewis, they will be playing at home against Lake Clifton at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
