The North Thurston Rams will face off against the Olympia Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. North Thurston is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.3 runs per game this season.
North Thurston took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 22-2 margin over Bellarmine Prep. That 20 run margin sets a new team best for the Rams this season.
Syriahs Trolson made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Trolson was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Abigail McBride was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Another player making a difference was Ellie Hovde, who scored three runs while going 3-for-5.
North Thurston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Olympia had taken Emerald Ridge down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Bears lost 12-1 to the Jaguars. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Olympia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Crass, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Olympia's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for North Thurston, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
North Thurston's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's contest. The Rams have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Olympia, though, as they've been averaging only 0.5 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Thurston continue to outrun the ball?
North Thurston came up short against Olympia when the teams last played back in March of 2019, falling 9-5. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
