The Lyman Greyhounds will head out on the road to challenge the Lake Howell Silver Hawks at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lyman is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Lyman lost to Lake Brantley at home by a decisive 59-45 margin. While losing is never fun, Lyman can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Lake Brantley is ranked 99th).
The match pitted two dominant players against one another in Max Mattingly and Landen Paquette. Paquette had a great game and scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Meanwhile, Mattingly did his best for the losing side, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake Howell pushed their score all the way to 62 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Minneola.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Mason Fritz, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Jaydon A. Samuels was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Lyman's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-13. As for Lake Howell, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Lyman came up short against Lake Howell when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 54-49. Can Lyman avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
