The Carolina Friends Quakers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 63-48 fall against Cristo Rey Research Triangle. Carolina Friends was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cristo Rey Research Triangle apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played last Friday.
Cristo Rey Research Triangle was led to victory by Jamaal Miller and Christian Gill. Miller dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds, while Gill dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gill has scored at least a third of Cristo Rey Research Triangle's points. Immanuel Holland was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Carolina Friends has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carolina Friends will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cresset Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on February 1st. Cristo Rey Research Triangle won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Liberty Christian at 6:15 p.m. on January 23rd. Liberty Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Cristo Rey Research Triangle likes a good challenge.
