MARCIANO RIOS was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. RIOS was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, Ranchview had just enough and edged out South Hills 4-2 on Friday. That's two games straight that the Wolves have won by exactly two runs.
Like Diamond Hill-Jarvis, Ranchview also got a great game from a two-way player: Jacob Harms. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Harms was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Ranchview let Jack Samford and Zane Gonzalez run wild. Samford scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Gonzalez went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. The dominant performance gave Gonzalez a new career-high in hits.
