They walked away with a 68-55 victory over Hillsboro. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Pope John Paul II relied on the efforts of Trey Pearson, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, and Fred Bailey, who scored 26 points. Bailey is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Antonio Wilkerson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Lipscomb Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Pope John Paul II, their victory bumped their record up to 17-2.
Lipscomb Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Pope John Paul II in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, sneaking past 54-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lipscomb Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
