Adrian is a perfect 10-0 against Butler since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Adrian is taking a road trip to take on Butler at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Adrian is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Wellington-Napoleon on Monday. Adrian put the hurt on Wellington-Napoleon with a sharp 20-3 win. Considering the Blackhawks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Adrian got a massive performance out of Olivia Engeman, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Lizzie Clifton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Engeman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Adrian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Butler got the win against Rich Hill on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.
Kylee Dubray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Dubray was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
In other batting news, Taylor Hudson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gabbie Carmichael, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Adrian's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Butler, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Everything went Adrian's way against Butler in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Adrian made off with an 18-3 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Adrian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
