Necedah took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Hillsboro, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cardinals skirted past the Tigers 13-11. The Cardinals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Addisyn Schumer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

As for Hillsboro, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3.
