TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - Leading by 22 points entering the fourth quarter didn't stop
East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.) from scoring, as it added 21 points in the final quarter on the way to a 49-6 victory over Tarpon Springs (Fla.) on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Artavis Scott in the first quarter, the Eagles led 21-6 at the half.
East Lake expanded its lead to 22 points entering the fourth quarter. EL's lone score in the quarter came on an Scott touchdown run.
With the win the Eagles extended their winning streak to five games. East Lake defeated Clearwater 61-16 last week.
Scott stood out for East Lake in the win. The senior wide receiver ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored nine touchdowns on the season.
Tarpon Springs' lone touchdown came on a 2-yard run in the second quarter.
The Spongers came in giving up 10.8 points per game this season. Tarpon Springs had a hard time against East Lake's offense, which entered the game scoring 29.8 points per game.
A 34-14 East Lake victory was the result when the squads faced off last season.
The loss comes after Tarpon Springs defeated Dunedin 44-7 last week.
