Two dominant guards in Lilly Weaver and Peyton Mounce are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The West Liberty-Salem Tigers will head out on the road to take on the Urbana Hillclimbers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (West Liberty-Salem is ranked 164th, while Urbana is ranked 169th).
West Liberty-Salem scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They took down Anna 68-50. That's two games straight that West Liberty-Salem has won by exactly 18 points.
Meanwhile, Urbana waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against Legacy Christian Academy by a score of 50-40.
Urbana's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alexandra Dixon, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Dixon has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mounce, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds.
West Liberty-Salem has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season. As for Urbana, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
West Liberty-Salem strolled past Urbana in their previous meeting back in December of 2015 by a score of 53-36. Will West Liberty-Salem repeat their success, or does Urbana have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
