The McKinley Trojans scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They snuck past Mineral Ridge with a 65-61 victory. The victory was just what McKinley needed coming off of a 55-28 loss in their prior game.
Despite the defeat, Mineral Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Chase Moore dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Moore has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Blake Basista was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
McKinley's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Mineral Ridge, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McKinley will take on McDonald at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mineral Ridge won't have much time to rest: their next match is against McKinley at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully McKinley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
