Palmer has gone a perfect 8-0 against Redington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Moose will host the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Palmer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
Palmer is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alaska's top teams: Kenai Central, who was ranked fourth at the time (Palmer was ranked 16th). The Moose fell 7-3 to the Kardinals on Saturday. The Moose have struggled against the Kardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Palmer saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Meanwhile, Redington was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Grace Christian. On the bright side, the 12- run effort marked the Huskies' highest-scoring matchup to date.
JuJu Atencio put in work while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Atencio was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those hits marked the first that he has got this season.
In other batting news, Ikaia Flores was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Buzzard, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Palmer's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Redington, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-4.
Palmer took their victory against Redington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 11-1 score. Will the Moose repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
