The Lewis Cass Kings will head out on the road to challenge the Maconaquah Braves at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Lewis Cass didn't have too much trouble with Taylor at home as they won 51-36. That looming 51-36 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Lewis Cass yet this season.
Lewis Cass' success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bryce Rudd, who scored 17 points, and L.j. Hillis, who scored 16 points along with two steals. That's the first time this season that Rudd scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brennan Deeter, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Maconaquah beat Hamilton Heights 62-54 on Saturday. Given Maconaquah's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 101st, while Hamilton Heights is ranked 232nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Maconaquah's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Fuddy Kile, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds, and Josiah Ball, who scored 30 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Ball has scored at least a third of Maconaquah's points. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Ellis, who scored two points along with seven rebounds.
The win makes it two in a row for Lewis Cass and bumps their season record up to 5-8. As for Maconaquah, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Lewis Cass came up short against Maconaquah in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 74-69. Thankfully for Lewis Cass, Bauer Maple (who scored 29 points along with six assists and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
