Horn will be up against a hot Lancaster team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Lancaster put the hurt on Life Oak Cliff with a sharp 9-1 victory on Saturday. Considering the Tigers have won 15 matches by more than seven runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Lancaster got a massive performance out of Kelsea Patton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Raegan Petry, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Lancaster always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in 14 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Horn owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They were the clear victor by an 8-0 margin over Bishop Lynch.
McKinlee Hinton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aaliyah Ashford was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Jasmine Uribe was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Horn's win bumped their record up to 9-7-1. As for Lancaster, their victory bumped their record up to 15-1.
Lancaster's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. Lancaster has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 10.4 stolen bases per game.
