This season hasn't been kind to the Northeast Early College Raiders, who are still winless after their eighth game. They took a serious blow against Crockett on Friday, falling 50-10. Northeast Early College was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 27-5.
Crockett was led to victory by Aliyah Smith and Lauren Smith. Smith dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Smith scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Smith set a new season high mark in steals with seven. The team also got some help courtesy of Sadie Peyton, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and four steals.
Northeast Early College bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Crockett, their victory bumped their record up to 8-16.
Northeast Early College will be playing at home against Richards School for Young Women Leaders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richards School for Young Women Leaders is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Crockett, they will head out on the road to face off against LBJ Austin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LBJ Austin comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
