Basketball Game Preview: Tri-County North Panthers vs. Eaton Eagles

Tri-County North hasn't had much luck against Eaton recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Tri-County North Panthers will host the Eaton Eagles at 10:45 a.m. Eaton took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tri-County North, who comes in off a win.

Tri-County North is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Bradford 64-39 on Saturday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 32-12.

Tri-County North can attribute much of their success to Leinani Garcia, who went 13 for 25 on her way to 29 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards, and Bella Cherry, who went 9 of 15 on her way to 20 points along with eight boards and seven assists. With that strong performance, Cherry is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Jackson, who posted four points and five boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Tri-County North was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Meanwhile, Eaton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against Waynesville, falling 77-39. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 605th, while the Spartans are ranked 33rd).

Eaton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Tri-County North, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-6.

Tri-County North suffered a grim 56-35 defeat to Eaton in their previous matchup back in February of 2019. Can Tri-County North avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
