Kokomo and Muncie Central are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The Kokomo Wildkats will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Muncie Central Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Kokomo's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Kokomo gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They blew past Harrison 76-42 on the road. Given Kokomo's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Harrison is ranked 95th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kokomo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karson Rogers led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Rogers has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Reis Beard was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Muncie Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 40-32 to Richmond. Muncie Central has not had much luck with Richmond recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Brady McNabb, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Xaviya Cook, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Kokomo pushed their record up to 12-3 with that win, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Muncie Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.
Kokomo took their win against Muncie Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 62-38. Does Kokomo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Muncie Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
