6A District 2 recap November 13, 2013
Muskogee scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Bixby, 46-42. At the time, the Spartans were ranked seventh in the state, while the Roughers were 60th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Muskogee, who took down seventh ranked Bixby, 46-42. Quintahj Cherry threw for 324 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 57 yards in the win.
Josh Blankenship's team's dynamic duo of Cherry and Tramal Ivy proved tough for Loren Montgomery's team to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Anthony King helped Muskogee's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 45 yards.
Ivy had a great week catching the football as the Roughers topped the Spartans. He caught 5 passes for 272 yards.
He went 14-19 with 2 interceptions.
On the heels of Marshall Ray and Nic Roller, Bixby has had great success on offense. Ray leads the league in passing with 2,213 yards, while Roller has rushed for 1,005 yards this season. Tops in the league in receiving yards is Broken Arrow's Austin Reed, with 980 yards on 57 catches.
The Tigers' Reed is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 20 receiving yards against Washington to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 57 catches for 980 yards.
Accruing a total of 17 touchdowns this year, Cherry has thrown for 1,902 yards with 12 interceptions.
Jenks extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 2 this week by beating Putnam City, 56-7. This was the team's 10th consecutive win.
