Flatirons Academy really took it to Bishop Machebeuf for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-26 win. With the Bison ahead 32-10 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Annabelle Rakers was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 28 points, ten boards, and 11 steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Flatirons Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Friedman, who went 7 of 8 on her way to 15 points and three steals.
Flatirons Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Heritage Christian on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Dawson School out of the water with an 81-17 final score. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Mustangs are ranked 279th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Flatirons Academy better keep an eye on Madilyn Buehrlen. She was instrumental in Heritage Christian's win, going 6 for 8 en route to 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Cadence Smith was another key player, going 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points and six assists.
Heritage Christian's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.5 points per game. As for Flatirons Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Flatirons Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.8 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Heritage Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
