The Carterville Lions won the last time they faced the Cairo Pilots, and things went their way on Monday too. Carterville was the clear victor by a 56-32 margin over Cairo. With Carterville ahead 36-13 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Carterville can attribute much of their success to Amayah Doyle, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Doyle has scored at least 25% of Carterville's points. Kennedy Rushing was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 6 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Carterville and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Cairo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Carterville will take on Benton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cairo is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Johnston City at 7:00 p.m. on November 21st.
