After a string of four wins, the Pinewood Prep Panthers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to First Baptist School 54-49. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Pinewood Prep of the 56-55 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture on January 5th.
Despite the loss, Pinewood Prep saw an underclassman step up: Jayden Alexander scored 16 points along with five assists and two steals. Alexander has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Jones, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Pinewood Prep's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-9. As for First Baptist School, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-10.
Pinewood Prep will head out on the road to square off against St. John's Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John's Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Pinewood Prep is ranked 55th). As for First Baptist School, they will be playing at home against Cardinal Newman at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Newman is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
