Boyd is 8-1 against Ponder since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets will square off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Boyd's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Callisburg 17-0. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Abby Atkinson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
In other batting news, Gabby Salas was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Savannah Davis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Boyd always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Callisburg only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Ponder took on Pilot Point on Saturday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over the Bearcats. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.
Like Boyd, Ponder also got a great game from a two-way player: Vada Cochrum. On the mound, she struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Cochrum was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Ponder let Tessa Taft and Skyler Medders run wild. Taft scored two runs while going 1-for-4, while Medders scored two runs while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Wells, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Boyd's record is now 21-4-2. As for Ponder, their record now sits at 11-4.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boyd hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .360. However, it's not like Ponder struggles in that department as they've averaged .399. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Boyd was able to grind out a solid victory over Ponder in their previous meeting back in March, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
