Gibault Catholic hasn't had much luck against Marissa/Coulterville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hawks will take on the Meteors at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Gibault Catholic put up the most runs they have all season on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Althoff Catholic a 17-0 shutout. The Hawks haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Chloe Lancaster made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

Those four runs gave Steibel a new career-high. Lily Bollman also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Meanwhile, Marissa/Coulterville made easy work of Father McGivney Catholic on Tuesday and carried off a 22-0 win. The Meteors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.
Like Gibault Catholic, Marissa/Coulterville also got a great game from a two-way player: Paityn Hand. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Hand was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Marissa/Coulterville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Gibault Catholic, their record now sits at 5-6.
Gibault Catholic might still be hurting after the 12-1 defeat they got from Marissa/Coulterville when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
