The La Joya Community Fighting Lobos had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Lake Havasu 55-39 on Monday. The victory was just what La Joya Community needed coming off of a 80-46 loss in their prior contest.
Makuach Makuei was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Carter, who scored 16 points.
La Joya Community's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-17. As for Lake Havasu, their loss was their 16th straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-15.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Joya Community will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon View presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than La Joya Community in Arizona (Canyon View is ranked 15th, while La Joya Community is ranked 239th). As for Lake Havasu, they will head out on the road to challenge Desert Edge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
