The Clinton Cardinals's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Summit Christian Academy on the road and fell 84-29. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Clinton has scored all season.
Mike Thomas iii was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds for Summit Christian Academy. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Rieger, who scored 15 points along with seven steals.
Clinton's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Summit Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lexington at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th. Lexington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Clinton in Missouri (Lexington is ranked 181st, while Clinton is ranked 507th). As for Summit Christian Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Michael the Archangel at 8:00 p.m.
