The Lynchburg HomeSchool Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lynchburg HomeSchool posted their biggest victory yet this season last Thursday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 67-35 victory over Timberlake Christian. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-17.
Kayden Saunders and Jeremiah Brown were among the main playmakers for Lynchburg HomeSchool as the former scored 15 points and the latter scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season.
Meanwhile, even though Temple Christian scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy still came out on top. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Temple Christian and snuck past 63-60. The win made it back-to-back wins for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zach Witcher led the charge by scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Witcher scored 15 or more points. Mason Fogarty was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Lynchburg HomeSchool now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Lynchburg HomeSchool hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 60.4 points per game. It's a different story for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 55 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Lynchburg HomeSchool strolled past Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2023 by a score of 70-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lynchburg HomeSchool since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
