The North Harrison Cougars were the 35-32 winner over the Salem Lions when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. North Harrison took a 32-24 hit to the loss column at the hands of Salem on Thursday.
Despite the loss, North Harrison saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Brown scored 11 points. Brown continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Smith, who scored two points along with three steals.
North Harrison has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Salem, their victory ended a 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Harrison will take on Trinity Lutheran at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Trinity Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 last Saturday. As for Salem, they will head out on the road to face off against Floyd Central at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Floyd Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Salem in Indiana (Floyd Central is ranked 116th, while Salem is ranked 316th).
