Baseball Recap: Lake Ridge Gets the Win

Aledo typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Lake Ridge proved too difficult a challenge. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Bearcats 3-2. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 victory the Bearcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Hayden Jones looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jayde Austin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominik Harper, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.

Lake Ridge's record is now 8-11-3. As for Aledo, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-6.

When Lake Ridge and Aledo next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Eagles will challenge Mansfield Legacy and their three-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Aledo will try to stop Granbury's 11-game winning streak when they meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Bearcats 2.1, the Pirates 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
