The Union County Fightin' Tigers will head out to square off against the Williston Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Union County will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Monday, then bounced right back against Bell on Tuesday. The Fightin' Tigers were the clear victors by a 16-5 margin over the Bulldogs. The win continues a trend for the Fightin' Tigers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Emma Handley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leanne Dicks, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, five RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Lillyenne Mayhew, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases and three runs.
Union County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Williston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 9-0 to Columbia. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since April 3, 2025.
Williston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brooklyn Bertrand, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Bertrand is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.
Union County now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Williston, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Williston's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .336. It's a different story for Williston, though, as they've only averaged .197. Will they be able to contain Union County's hitters?
Union County suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Williston in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Fightin' Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
