3A Region II District 11 recap October 8, 2013
Ferris extended the longest winning streak in 3A Region II District 11 this week by beating Anna, 49-29. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Ferris led the league in scoring this week by notching 49 points on the Coyotes. Jay Foster ran for 256 yards during the win.
Aaron Emeyabbi's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Javaughn Thurmon threw for 85 yards and Darius Rouwtt had 36 yards receiving. On the ground Foster chipped in 256 yards. Cameron King helped Ferris' passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 35 yards.
Foster was a force in the backfield as the Yellowjackets defeated Anna.
Foster was the best running back in the league this week. Thurmon also contributed to the rushing game with 204 yards on the ground.
Ferris' offense cannot be tamed this season and the Yellowjackets feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Thurmon has thrown for 688 yards and 5 touchdowns this season, while Rouwtt has 17 catches for 291 yards.
A big matchup in 3A Region II District 11 this week will be when Ferris takes on Madison. At the moment, the Yellowjackets are in first, while the Trojans are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Ferris takes on Madison. The Yellowjackets have allowed 47 points this season, while Marcus Gates' team has given up 188. Ferris allowed 29 points last week as it topped Curren McMahon's team.
The Yellowjackets made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,653 from 1,789. The advance stemmed from a 49-29 victory over the Coyotes last week.
