The Crested Butte Titans can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Trinidad out 37-34. The win was just what Crested Butte needed coming off of a 58-29 loss in their prior matchup.
Despite the defeat, Trinidad saw an underclassman step up: Danica Shipley scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Maya Morales was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with seven rebounds.
Crested Butte's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Trinidad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crested Butte will take on Cotopaxi at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Trinidad, they will be playing at home against Del Norte at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Del Norte's defense has only allowed 28.5 points per game this season, so Trinidad's offense will have their work cut out for them.
