The Piedmont Academy Cougars waltzed into their game on Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They came out on top against Westminster Christian Academy by a score of 51-40. Given Piedmont Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Westminster Christian Academy is ranked 406th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Marissa Holder continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 17 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 17 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Teagan Satterfield, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Piedmont Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Westminster Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-11.
Piedmont Academy will look to defend their home court on Saturday against St. George's at 1:00 p.m. Hopefully St. George's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Tuesday. As for Westminster Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Gatewood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
