The Valley Forge Patriots's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 52-44 to Buckeye. Valley Forge was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Buckeye apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mikayla Hoang, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hoang pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jada Plum, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Among those leading the charge was Kwynn Czerwony, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. She continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Maddy Kost was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Valley Forge's defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Buckeye, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-11.
Valley Forge will square off against Normandy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Normandy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. As for Buckeye, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Holy Name at 12:30 p.m. Hopefully Holy Name focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Wednesday.
