The Toms River South Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Colts Neck Cougars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Toms River South never got on the board in their matchup two weeks ago, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Central Regional last Friday. Everything went their way against the Golden Eagles as they made off with a 41-20 win.
Meanwhile, Colts Neck had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Long Branch 57-20 at home.
It was another big night for Chris Scully, who rushed for 185 yards and four touchdowns. Scully is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Dom Beninato was another key contributor, throwing for 115 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.
Their wins bumped Toms River South to 6-2 and Colts Neck to 5-3.
Toms River South was taken down by Colts Neck 35-6 when the teams last played back in October of 2019. Thankfully for Toms River South, Romeo Thomas (who rushed for 223 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
