After losing to the Paul Robeson Huskies the last time they met, Carver High School of Engineering & Science decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Carver High School of Engineering & Science walked away with a 60-48 win over Paul Robeson on Thursday. Given Carver High School of Engineering & Science's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Paul Robeson is ranked 521st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science can attribute much of their success to Anthony Brown, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Mcfield, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
Paul Robeson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Shiheed Rice-Sloan, who scored nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rakeem Dunston, who scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals.
Speaking of assists, Paul Robeson were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carver High School of Engineering & Science only racked up four assists.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science pushed their record up to 11-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points per game. As for Paul Robeson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.
Carver High School of Engineering & Science will challenge Central at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Paul Robeson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Olney at 3:15 p.m. on January 12th.
