In what's become a running theme this season, the Luther Cougars gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Irwin 76-56. The score was close at the half, but Luther pulled away in the second half with 49 points.
Luther was led to victory by Lenny Cruz and Tristan Elcock. Cruz scored 20 points along with five steals, while Elcock dropped a double-double on 25 points and 18 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Elcock has scored all season. Dylan Younghese was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
The victory was the third in a row for Luther, bringing their record for this year to 9-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Irwin, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Luther will head out on the road to challenge Portledge at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Irwin will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Garden at 5:15 p.m. on February 1st.
