The La Junta Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. Their tough 75-49 defeat to Garden City might stick with them for a while.
Ethan Leyba and Dj Brown certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Leyba scored 15 points along with four steals, while Brown scored 14 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for Leyba. Another player making a difference was Miles Marshall, who scored eight points.
La Junta's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-3. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.5 points per game. As for Garden City, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-3.
La Junta won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Scott at 6:30 p.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Scott focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. Garden City won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Lamar at 6:30 p.m. on December 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Lamar is ranked 126th in Colorado, while Garden City is ranked 149th in Kansas).
