Riverbend has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge the North Stafford Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Riverbend can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Mountain View 60-31 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Riverbend has posted against Mountain View since January 24, 2022.
Riverbend can attribute much of their success to Olivia Long, who scored nine points along with six steals, and Maniyah Alston, who scored 20 points. Another player making a difference was Amaya Pace, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, North Stafford scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They put the hurt on Brooke Point with a sharp 57-33 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for North Stafford.
Destinee Salgado was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Daysha Salgado, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Riverbend's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-4. As for North Stafford, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Riverbend have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like North Stafford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Riverbend came up short against North Stafford when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 55-44. Can Riverbend avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
