The Del Valle Conquistadores will challenge the Horizon Scorpions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Del Valle 3.5, Horizon 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Friday, Del Valle beat Bel Air 6-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Conquistadores.
DIEGO VILLALOBOS made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. VILLALOBOS was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, BRYAN GARCIA was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two runs. IAN PACHECO was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Horizon's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Hanks by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Scorpions couldn't push the score so high this time.
Horizon saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was CESAR AGUERO, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
Del Valle's victory bumped their record up to 13-5. As for Horizon, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Del Valle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Horizon struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Del Valle couldn't quite finish off Horizon when the teams last played back in March of 2025 and fell 2-0. Can the Conquistadores avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
