4A District 4 recap Sept. 26, 2012
Weeki Wachee's Marcus Allen rumbled for the longest rushing play in 4A District 4 this season in his game against Umatilla last week. Allen ran for 69 yards on the play and finished with 74 on the day as his team fell to the Bulldogs.
Mount Dora moved up to 193 from 259 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 34-12 win over the Hurricanes helped the Hurricanes improve their standing.
Umatilla's dynamic duo of Joseph Huggins and Dillon Streeter proved tough for Weeki Wachee to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Huggins threw for 96 yards and one touchdown and Streeter had 71 yards receiving. Perry Stanley helped Umatilla's passing attack out by catching two balls for 14 yards.
Alex Gonzales was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 116 yards as Keystone Heights topped Mark Lee's team. Teammate Sam Anderson added to the ground attack by rushing for 88 yards.
The Bulldogs' Huggins and Streeter have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A District 4 in both passing and receiving yards. Huggins has thrown for 414 yards this season, while Streeter has nine catches for 230 yards. Gonzales from the Indians leads the league in rushing with 434 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Umatilla takes on Bradford. The Bulldogs are currently in first, while the Tornadoes are in fourth.
Bradford was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league.
